Mihenk, through the years.
A garden swing earns its meaning not the year it was bought, but ten years later when it still stands in the same place. Mihenk's design, material and registry are built to carry that long life.
The same swing, three scenes.
The account below is grounded in field knowledge of solid Iroko + Italian Teak oil finishing. Since the first batch has not yet reached these ages, we offer a written frame in place of photographs.
Newly delivered
Honey-coloured Iroko grain. The oil freshly absorbed, matte-silky to the touch. Still "new" — yet without the gleam of plastic or varnish.
Settled
The colour has deepened a tone or two, kept steady by yearly oil care. Some scratches have weathered into patina; the wood looks "storied", not "worn".
Hand-over
Iroko matured: dark brown, matte. The registry sheet records the batch, the masters, and the notes of previous owners. The hand-over is not of an object; it is the memory of a household.
Why we can speak of twenty years.
Iroko (Milicia excelsa) is an African hardwood; thanks to its dense-grained structure and natural oil content, it carries its expected 20+ year life outdoors. No varnish — we use Italian Teak oil: it penetrates the wood and leaves no film; the wood breathes and does not crack.
Single maintenance: a once-a-year oil refresh with a sponge — the care kit ships with everything you need. Hardware is stainless steel; pivot points are dimensioned against wear. In other words: by year 20 you will be tending it not to replace parts, but to add the latest owner's note.
Mihenk earns its meaning once your story begins.
